Modernization of the building technology for a sales area
Project start

Description
The building technology has been completely modernized, with the exception of the landlord’s ventilation units. A water-to-water heat pump makes it possible to use the waste heat from the commercial refrigeration to heat the Market. Excess heat is released into the exhaust air of the on-site ventilation system, especially in summer. The existing district heating and district cooling connections are only used for redundancy or to cover any power peaks.
Initial situation
In the rental space, we found a classic refrigeration system with recooling via district cooling. It was not possible to install a cooler in the rental space. Only the district cooling network with a flow temperature of up to 6 °C was available for recooling the commercial refrigeration. Together with EDEKA, a concept was developed to implement recooling at a higher temperature level. The operating costs were significantly reduced by a predominantly self-sufficient heat supply from the waste heat of the commercial cooling system and a smart cooling system.
Project objective
Integration of modern and efficient system technology into an existing underground shopping arcade within a tight time frame. IBIG was entrusted with the planning, tendering, awarding and construction management of the technical trades.
